I have come across a great product called Dropbox. Once in a while you find a product and service that just works without any fuss, effort or complicated setup. It’s Free
Dropbox is an on-line file “sharing”"storage”"sync” application. It works cross platform.
I have an imac desktop, macbook and iphone all sharing and syncronising files. I just turn on one of the devices and the same files and folders are available that are on the others machines.
Also you can share specific folders with other people which will aid collaboration. Optionally you can receive live notifications when files and folders are modified.
Dropbox has it’s own web interface so if you are away from your devices you can access your documents through any web browser. Why not check it out here.
